Blue Dust consists of a painting on the wall
in the AirSpace hallway. The image is inspired by a section
of the AirSpace building that is particularly significant.
It is the area around the entrance doorway and incorporates
the window to Joyce’s studio. It brings together the
architectural scene of the front door with a ‘blue broken
ceramic pattern’, similar to a Spode Italian Blue pattern.
The wall directly under the painting and around the pattern
has splattered paint, cement and clay left visible. Pigment
being allowed to drop from the painting onto the wall and
floor, leaving a trace of materials and process of painting.
The painting will incorporate colour, scale, pattern and
texture, bringing together materials, process, histories and
a sense of place.
